At Charles Faram, we offer two types of Yakima Chief Hops® – Hop Extracts, each available in various flavour varieties to suit the specific needs of your brew. To help you understand the differences between these products, please refer to our brewing guide and specification sheets below.

HYPERBOOST™

· HIGH CONCENTRATION OF AROMA-SPECIFIC HOP OILS · REDUCES VEGETAL LOAD - INCREASING BEER YIELD

HyperBoost™ is a concentrated hop oil (40-70%) for whirlpool, fermentation and dry-hop additions. Intended to amplify hop aromatics and increase yield, HyperBoost™ excels at adding beautiful hop aroma anywhere pellets are normally used, including cold-side applications. HyperBoost™ is made from single-hop varieties to deliver variety-specific aroma boosts to your finished beer.

Available in the following varieties

Citra® · Idaho7® · Mosaic® · Sabro® · Simcoe® · Krush™

DYNABOOST™

· STANDARDISED TO 20% OIL CONTENT · REDUCES WORT-SUCKING TRUB · IMPROVES EFFICIENCY AND FLAVOUR IMPACT

DynaBoost was crafted as a hassle-free whirlpool addition that amplifies aromatics through a concentration of wort-soluble compounds. Thanks to that solubility, you get less solid matter impacting your waste stream and more wort heading to your fermenter, with some brewers reporting up to a 5% increase in wort yield.

Available in the following varieties

Centennial · Chinook · Citra® · Ekuanot® · Idaho 7® · Mosaic® · Sabro® · Simcoe®

HOW TO BREW

HYPERBOOST™

HyperBoost™ is designed to easily pour into your fermenter as a cold side addition, adding an intense saturation of hop flavour to your finished beer. Most brewers choose to use HyperBoost™ as a fermenter addition, but it can also be added to the whirlpool.

DYNABOOST™

DynaBoost™ serves as a versatile companion in the brewhouse, adding a rich and dynamic hop character to your beer. This exceptionally flowable oil extract delivers varietal hop characteristics to your brew through a high concentration of beer-soluble compounds. Thanks to its solubility, brewers may see an increase in wort yield due to a reduction in trub.

Post-Boil/Whirlpool:

For whirlpool use, brewers can replace up to 100% of pellets with HyperBoost™. We suggest replacing T-90 pellet additions in the whirlpool at a rate of 50:1 by weight (20 g of HyperBoost™ to replace 1 kg T-90). Your brewery might choose to use more or less depending on beer style or overall goal.

Post-Boil/Whirlpool:

DynaBoost™ was specifically designed to boost aromatics as a whirlpool addition. The wort soluble oil extract will deliver variety-specific aroma attributes and minimise trub, potentially increasing your whirlpool yield.

Fermentation:

HyperBoost™ can be used as an active or post-fermentation hop addition. Incorporate HyperBoost™ anywhere in the process you would typically use pellets.

Fermentation:

DynaBoost™ requires contact time with hot liquid to incorporate into wort or fermenting beer. For that reason, brewers who choose to use DynaBoost™ in the fermenter often use a “dip hop” method, where a small portion of the wort is transferred to the fermenter hot (170-200°F) along with DynaBoost™. The hot wort and DynaBoost™ mixture is then allowed to stand for a short period before the main knockout at fermentation temperature, after which yeast can be pitched.

Dry hopping:

For dry hop additions, YCH recommends using HyperBoost™ for 25-50% of the addition and adding T-90 or Cryo® pellets for the remainder of the hop charge. As a dry hop, we suggest starting with a replacement rate of 100:1 HyperBoost™ to T-90 pellets by weight (10 g HyperBoost™ in place of 1 kg T-90) to 125:1 (8 g HyperBoost™ in place of 1 kg T-90).

KETTLE:

DynaBoost™ carries variety-specific alpha acid content and can be used both as an early bittering addition, or a late aroma addition in the kettle.

HyperBoost™ is designed to easily pour in your fermenter as a cold side addition, adding an intense saturation of hop flavour to your finished beer. Most brewers choose to use HyperBoost as a fermenter addition, but it can also be added to the whirlpool. Using HyperBoost in place of traditional pellets can increase finished beer yield.

HOW TO STORE AND SHELF LIFE

HYPERBOOST™

HyperBoost™ should be stored in a sealed aluminium bottle container in near-freezing conditions, preferably between -1°C and 5°C. HyperBoost™ remains completely fluid even below freezing. HyperBoost™ will remain stable in closed containers for 2 years

DYNABOOST™

DynaBoost™ should be stored below 25°C (77°F), though as with all hop products, aromatic quality will remain more stable at cooler
temperatures, as low as -1°C (30°F). DynaBoost™ will remain shelf stable in closed containers for 2 years.

HOW MUCH DO I USE (DOSING RATES)

HYPERBOOST™

YCH recommends replacing up to 100% of the Whirlpool or 25% to 50% of the Dry Hop additions with HyperBoost™ and leaving up to 50% of the addition as T-90 Hop Pellets and/or Cryo Hops® Brand Pellets.

DYNABOOST™

A typical dosage rate 0.2 to 0.5g per litre of wort is recommended depending on brewer’s discretion. A typical replacement dosage for T-90 pellets with DynaBoost™ would be a 10:1 dilution, meaning for every kilogram of T-90 pellets, add 100g of DynaBoost™. Unless whirlpool hops provide the vast majority of the bitterness in a given beer, the difference in bitterness pickup during whirlpooling is likely negligible due to lower isomerisation rates as temperatures cool in the whirlpool. If a beer is largely defined by the bitterness generated in the whirlpool, bitterness can be adjusted with CO2 extract, ISO, or another hop product.
